  • Balawyn is a PhD candidate researching "Barriers to Implementation of the Indonesian Anti-Domestic Violence Law: A case study of criminal justice approaches in the province of Aceh", supervised by Professor Tim Lindsey and Associate Professor Amanda Whiting. Her research is informed by her previous work as an associate to the Hon. Justice Rangiah at the Federal Court of Australia and as Pro Bono Legal Clinic Co-ordinator for Strategic Advocacy Human Rights (SAHR).

    She also holds a Teaching Fellowship (tutoring Human Rights and Global Justice) and Research Fellowship with the Institute for International Law and the Humanities (ILLAH).
