  • Darryl is the Director of Education and Training at Phoenix Australia and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, The University of Melbourne. He is a clinical psychologist with many years’ experience in a diverse range of mental health settings. For much of his recent career he has held senior leadership and consulting positions with primary responsibility for the design and development of innovative education and training programs for professional and lay providers to improve mental health and stress-related conditions. These initiatives have ranged from development of e-health products to sector-wide quality improvement interventions. At Phoenix Australia, he has worked closely with the Commonwealth and state governments, including the Commonwealth Departments of Veterans' Affairs, Defence, and Health, as well as professional and community organisations, and has led numerous initiatives to improve the mental health practices of primary care, specialist and other practitioners working with military, veteran and civilian populations. He has published widely on posttraumatic, disaster, and youth mental health issues including controlled trials testing novel psychological interventions, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and the evaluation of training and support initiatives.
