  • Brian Finlayson is a physical geographer with specialist expertise in geomorphology and environmental hydrology. He has over thirty years experience as a university academic in undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, graduate research supervision, research and consulting. For the past 30 years he has taught geomorphology and other branches of physical geography to students in planning, landscape architecture, environmental engineering and science. During his career he has worked in the United Kingdom, Spain, China, Taiwan and South Africa as well as in most states of Australia. With a specific interest in the environmental dimensions of water management he has built a reputation in the fields of environmental flows and river management and restoration. In addition to academic research he is active as a consultant in these fields to government agencies, industry, and a variety of private individuals and community groups.
