Overview

  • I am a part-time research fellow with the Quantitative and Applied Ecology Group at The University of Melbourne. I am interested in using and extending mathematical optimisation methods to solve problems in conservation biology and environmental management. Some current projects include:

    • Using theory to derive meaningful indices for conservation
    • Accounting for uncertainty when designing reserves
    • Simplified Adaptive Management frameworks
I currently live in French Guiana where I am developing collaborations with tropical ecologists from The Joint Research Unit Ecology of Guiana Forests (EcoFoG). If all goes well, I will be working on a project to evaluate how well the current forest reserve system is expected to protect key ecosystem properties under a range of future climate scenarios.
