Biography
Christopher K Fairley has an undergraduate medical degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia . Before taking up his position as Professor of Sexual Health within the School of Population at the University of Melbourne and Director of the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre in 2001, he spent 5 years at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. He also worked at the Communicable Disease Surveillance Center in London between 1994-1995.
Professor Christopher K Fairley holds three specialist medical fellowships from the College of Physicians, Faculty of Public Health and Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine. He Chairs the Steering Committee of the Sexual Health Service of ACCESS Project and Research Advisory Sub Committee Chapter of Sexual Health- Research and Education Foundation, The Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
He is also a member of the International Executive of the International Union of Sexually Transmitted Infections. He chaired the 2006 Sexual Health Conference organizing committee and was involved in the organisation of the 2007 International Sexuallly Transmitted Diseases Committee in Seattle. He is also member the Federal Ministerial Advisory Committee on AIDS, Sexual Health and Hepatitis and Chairs Ministerial Advisory Committee on Blood Borne and Sexually Transmissible Infections in Victoria, Australia. He is an editor of the Journal ‘Sexual Health’ and has written over 265 scientific articles, book chapters and book in the area of STI and Public Health. His principle research interest is the public health control of sexually transmitted diseases.
