Biography

I have spent time in UK and Australian universities, the UK's National Physical Laboratory (similar to CSIRO, Australia) and the IT industry (as a user interface designer and human factors engineer).

I've been involved in over $4 million worth of successful funding applications (~$1 million for personally administered projects) from many sources including the Australian Research Council, National Health and Medical Research Council, the European Union, Novell, Sensis, DITARD, Telstra and VicRoads

  • Published 100+ papers, edited volumes and book chapters in the national and international literature
  • Editorial board member of both Interacting with Computers and Personal and Ubiquitous Computing
  • Invited speaker and keynote speaker at a number of usability conferences
  • Technical co-chair of IFIP's INTERACT'97 conference
  • Technical co-chair of the national Australian usability conference OzCHI in both 1994 and 2000
  • General Chair of OzCHI'94
  • Two terms as national secretary of the Australian HCI group (CHISIG)
