Biography
My work is predominantly within the Vestibular Investigation Unit, working in a team along with Neurologists and ENT surgeons to provide accurate assessment and recommendations for vestibular dysfunctional patients. The Unit performs specialized audiological and vestibular tests to assess inner ear function in patients with dizziness and balance problems, and then provide appropriate recommendations back to the patient and their specialist. People with vestibular dysfunctions can present dilemmas to many specialists because vestibular disorders can often be difficult to diagnose, and the Unit aims to assist patients and their specialists by offering expertise in Vestibular function. I have been coordinating and developing this collaborative service of the University of Melbourne and Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital since 1999.
I also have a teaching role within the Department of Otolaryngology, School of Audiology.
In addition to my clinical and teaching work, I have a large interest in performing and promoting clinical research. I have participated in many research projects particularly in vestibular audiology, and my current project involves investigating cochlear implantation and its effects on vestibular function. This study aims to assist our vestibular disordered cochlear implant candidates both before and after surgery.
