Biography
Graeme Shanks is a Professorial Fellow in the Department of Information Systems at the University of Melbourne. Until recently he was Associate Dean Research and Professor in the School of Business Systems in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University, Australia. Prior to becoming an academic, Graeme worked for a number of years as programmer, programmer-analyst and project leader in several large organizations. Graeme has a number of research and teaching interests including conceptual modeling, data quality, identity management and the implementation and impact of enterprise systems and inter-organisational systems.
He is a member of several editorial boards including Asia Pacific Management Review (Regional Editor), Journal of Knowledge Management Theory and Practice, Data Warehousing Journal, International Journal of Data Warehousing and Mining, Journal of Database Management and the New Zealand Journal of Applied Computing and Information Technology. He has published the outcomes of his research in over 100 refereed journal and conference papers in outlets including Information Systems Journal, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Communications of the ACM and the International Conference on Information Systems.
Graeme has received over $1 million in research funding from the Australian Research Council including both discovery grants and industry linkage grants. He was a member of the Australian Research Council college of experts from 2004 to 2005 representing the information systems community.
