Biography

André Gygax is a faculty member in the Department of Finance at the University of Melbourne. He has worked for the University of Colorado and the University of Technology in Sydney. He has also worked for Swiss Bank Corporation, Busag, Mercis, The World Trade Center and Micrel. His research interests are in the areas of entrepreneurial finance, venture capital, private equity, corporate finance and social network analysis. In 1997, under the supervision of Prof. Jones from M.I.T., he developed a computer model to review the financial, legal and technical feasibility of an electronic funds ATM/Point-of-Sale network for Sarajevo. The study was supported by a large grant from the United States Trade and Development Agency in Washington D.C. (see USTDA research study #97744). In 1999, the findings of this study led to the establishment of the first national EFT/POS and credit card processing center (Bamcard d.o.o.) in Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH) and VISA processing certification was subsequently accomplished.
