Biography

Chris Walsh has been working and writing on the ecology of streams in urban areas for 14 years, mostly with the Cooperative Research Centre for Freshwater Ecology at Monash University. His research group has a strongly applied focus, working closely with research groups that are leading the development of low-impact urban design and stormwater management. As well as publishing widely in the scientific literature, Chris works hard to communicate his research directly with policy makers, management authorities and the general community, to encourage a sound ecological basis to urban land and water management practices.
