Biography

Sandra is a graduate of the Victorian College of The Arts School of Film and     Television. Her award winning graduate film ‘Frail Mary’ played at various Film Festivals.

    Since film school, Sandra worked in a variety of different jobs from Production Runner on feature films, to 1st Assistant Director on many short films. In-between these jobs she has worked on developing her writing skills.

Sandra wrote and directed the short feature ‘Deeper than Blue’ as a means of making a film that was shootable on a stringent budget and within three weeks.  It went on to premier as part of the new directors showcase at the 50th Sydney International Film Festival.

It also screened Internationally, including Female Eye International film festival in Toronto and Cinema des Antipodes, France.

Sandra was then selected to participate in the Australian Film Commission’s Indivision program and has written and directed the feature film ‘The Caterpillar Wish’ as part of this initiative.  The Caterpillar Wish is a Palace film and released in Australia in 2006.

Sandra now is focused on writing several other Screenplays, for herself as well as for other directors and producers.  In 2006 ‘The Caterpillar Wish’ was nominated by The Film Critics Circle of Australia for Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.  It was nominated in the IF Awards for Best Sound and won Best Art Direction.  It also won an AFI Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Sandra is currently Lecturing at Melbourne University VCA School of Film and Television.
