Biography

Professor Reilly is Professor Director of the Speech Pathology Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital. She is Professor of Paediatric Speech pathology in the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. In addition, she is one of six Theme Directors at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute where she has responsibility for population health research on the campus. Sheena has published a large body of work on the epidemiology and characterization of childhood communication disorders, feeding problems and specific syndromes where there are speech and language and/or feeding consequences. Sheena has more than 120 publications (including over 70 peer reviewed journal publications, an edited book, test materials and book chapters). Sheena’s current research program is multidisciplinary, and includes several projects with a focus on speech and language disorders in childhood. She has been awarded over 7 million dollars in competitive research funding (e.g. NHMRC, ARC, NIH). Recently, Sheena was awarded a 5 year NHMRC practitioner fellowship.
