Biography
Carlin Dowling is a Senior Lecturer in the Department. She joined the Department in January 2003. Prior to this Carlin was at the University of Tasmania. She has had extensive work experience, holding positions in corporate accounting/administration, and audit and business advisory roles in chartered accounting firms.
Carlin completed her PhD in 2006. Her PhD, which investigated the antecedents of appropriate audit support system use, was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Dissertation Award by the American Accounting Association (Information Systems Section). Carlin is currently working on other projects investigating auditor use of technology. Carlin has previously supervised honours students and a PhD student who investgated the effect of structural restrictiveness of a computerised checklist on decision-making.
Carlin’s work has been published in the Accounting Review, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting, Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research, Accounting Education: An International Journal and Australian Accounting Review. Her work has also been presented at several Australian and international conferences, including the American Accounting Association Annual and Mid-yr meetings, AFAANZ, European Accounting Association, International Research Symposium on Accounting Information Systems and the Asia Pacific Symposium on Accounting Information Systems. Carlin is currently serving as an editorial board member for International Journal of Accounting Information Systems and Accounting Perspectives. She also is an active member of the Information Section of the American Accounting Association.
