Biography
Dr. André Sammartino is a lecturer in the Department of Management and Marketing at the University of Melbourne. He was previously Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Programme for the Practice of Diversity Management in Australian Centre for International Business. André’s undergraduate and postgraduate work was principally in Economic History. In 2004 he received the Butlin Prize from Economic History Society of Australia & New Zealand for best Masters or PhD thesis in Australian of New Zealand economic history, 2000-2002. André’s current research interests lie in the international business and strategic management areas. He has a book chapter impending on the regional aspects of multinational expansion, and a paper on the nature of subsidiary role transformation in light of sunk costs will appear in a forthcoming volume of Advances in International Management. André has two chapters in the new book titled The Internationalisation Strategies of Small-Country Firms: The Australian Experience of Globalisation (2007, Dick & Merrett (eds)). André has presented at conferences and workshops in China, Canada, Sweden, Spain, the UK and NZ, and was recently invited to undertake research leave at Copenhagen Business School.
