Biography
My training has been within the field of general surgery, with specialization in Advanced liver, pancreas and biliary surgery. I received my board certification in surgery in Australia (F.R.A.C.S) after which I continued with further training the USA in Liver, Pancreas and Foregut Surgery and Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Endoscopic surgery. This included Clinical surgery at Penn State University, Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania followed by Clinical Surgery at Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio. In addition time was spent undertaking pancreatic research and surgical observation at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. I have a particular interest in liver and pancreatic cancer, including treatment of locally advanced or borderline resectable cancer. I also have a strong interest in re-operative liver and pancreatic surgery and advanced laparoscopic pancreas and liver surgery. I am one of the few surgeons in Australia who performs laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (Laparoscopic Whipple’s Procedure). My basic research interests are in the areas of pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis and colorectal liver metastases. I am currently a Lecturer on the HPB / Transplant unit at the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne, Austin Hospital. Patient referrals to myself at Austin Health can be made by Fax (03) 9496 2097 for the Wednesday HPB Outpatients Clinic. My private practice surgery is at Warringal, Mitcham and Epworth hospitals. Private patient bookings can be made through my Burwood office on Phone number (03) 98868077. Alternatively patient enquiries or referrals for managment of liver, pancreas or biliary tumors can also be made through email: LPBSurgery@gmail.com .
