Biography
Dr. MARK NICHOLLS is Senior Lecturer in Cinema Studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia where he has taught since 1993. His areas of teaching include subject on melodrama, psychoanalysis, new Hollywood cinema and Italian Cinema. He is the author of Scorsese�s Men: Melancholia and the Mob, Pluto and Indiana University Press, and recently published chapters and articles on Martin Scorsese (Film Quarterly, Blackwell & Cambridge), Luchino Visconti (QRFV), Shakespeare in film (JFV) and film and the Cold War. He has recently completed a book length critical study on the films of Jeremy Irons and is currently engaged on a biography of Martin Scorsese. Mark is a film journalist and worked for many years on ABC Radio in Australia. He currently writes a weekly column on film in The Age newspaper in Melbourne. Mark has a long list of credits as a stage producer/director dating back to 1989.
