Biography
Michael Davern is Associate Professor in Accounting and Business Information Systems, and Director of the Master of Business and IT program in the Melbourne GSM. Prior to joining the University in 2003 he spent a decade in the USA, including academic appointments at Stern School of Business, New York University and the University of Minnesota. His research is funded by both the corporate sector and the Australian Research Council and appears in the Journal of Management Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, Decision Support Systems, and The International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, among others. An internationally known speaker, Michael has delivered invited research presentations in six countries and regularly presents to executive audiences both locally and internationally. His teaching experience spans both Information Systems and Accounting across all levels (Undergraduate, MBA/Masters, PhD and Executive). Prior to entering academia, Michael held appointments with Price Waterhouse, Comalco, and Coles Myer in both business/accounting and IT roles. He is currently director of a privately held investment company and trustee of a superannuation fund.
