Biography
Presently, she holds the position of Research Fellow (Level B) /Scientist at School of Engineering at University of Melbourne. She has completed her PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Melbourne with an Australian Postgraduate Award, Masters in Engineering (Information Technology) at RMIT University in Melbourne and BSc Engineering at University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. She was awarded the Solander Fellowship for research collaboration with the Departments of Neurosurgery and Radiation Physics, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, in both 2007 and 2008. She also was awarded Vice-Chancellor Knowledge Transfer grant from University of Melbourne, in 2008. She served as a Program Co-Chair, Track Co-Chair, member of the technical program committee (TPC) for 5 conferences and a reviewer for the several journals and conferences. She also a Guest Editor for "Special Issue on Sensor Network for Building Monitoring: From Theory to Real Application" on Electronic Journal of Structural Engineering. Her current research interests include mainly in investigating biological effect of radio frequency and extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (from mobile phones, base stations and power lines) and human. She is planning to investigate health effect of transportation system (from trams, trains and high speed trains) in Australia and energy management in Sensor Networks. She is a volunteered Scientist in the Scientists in Schools program in Australia. Research Experience: Department of Radiation Physics & Department of Bio Chemistry, Lund University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, Sweden (2008 Sep.) Laboratory Experiment: Investigating biological effect of extremely low frequency magnetic fields (by using cell model - spinach) Department of Neurosurgery, Lund University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, Sweden (2007 Sep.) Laboratory Experiment: Investigating biological effect of radio frequency electromagnetic radiation - GSM mobile phone radiation (by using animal model - rats)
