Biography

Dr VG Sridharan joined the University of Melbourne as a lecturer in accounting in June 2006. A chartered accountant and cost accountant from India, VG has over 14 years of teaching and training experience in accounting. Prior to joining the University of Melbourne, VG taught management accounting and control systems in Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) for 8 years before moving to the University of Auckland (UoA) in New Zealand in 1999. He continued to teach management accounting and simultaneously pursued and completed his doctorate in accounting from UoA in 2005.


VG's research interests are in the economics of the firm and strategy-control systems interface within firms. In his PhD, he examined how firms' manager-worker transactions are managed for different levels of knowledge specificity. The construct, knowledge specificity is proxied by product variety strategy. In publications, VG has about 15 professional articles and five on-going research articles (one of which is under second review in the Journal of Management Accounting Research).
