Biography

Phill Cobbin is a Senior Lecturer teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate Audit and Assurances Services and Financial Accounting programs of the Department of Accounting & Business Information Systems. He has recently overseen the redesign, rewriting and implementation of the new first year undergraduate accounting program in the department.

His research interests encompass the market for audit services and accounting and auditing history.  His particular interests at present focus on the conjunction between accounting history and military history in the late 19th and early to mid 20th Centuries.  He is presently engaged in a major research project documenting the contribution of the Australian accounting profession to the Second World War effort, 1939-1945.

Phil is a member of the Academy of Accounting Historians.

Prior to joining academia he worked as a Chartered Accountant in the Melbourne and London offices of Price Waterhouse & Co. He is also a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve with the Royal Australian Army Pay Corps (currently on the Standby Reserve list).
