Ian Beveridge
Qualifications: DVSc.(1989) PhD (1974) BVSc (Hons) (1970)
Current position: Professor of Veterinary Parasitology, University of Melbourne. Previous positions held: Senior lecturer and Reader, University of Melbourne (1989-2004), Senior Veterinary Pathologist, Institute of Medical & Veterinary Science, Adelaide and S.A. Dept. of Agriculture (1979-1989); Research Fellow, James Cook University, Townsville (1978-1979); CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland (1976); Research Fellow, University of Melbourne (1975,1977).
Awards and elected positions: Bancroft-Mackerras Medal of the Australian Society for Parasitology (1986), Correspondant" (= Honorary Associate) of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris (1988), Verco Medal of the Royal Society of South Australia (1989), President of the Australian Society for Parasitology (1990), Fellow of the Australian Society for Parasitology (2003).
Research interests: Major research interest: parasites (helminths, arthropods, protozoans) of native mammals, including their systematics, life-cycles, phylogeny and associated pathology. Most publications have been on the helminth parasites of macropodid marsupials. Other research interests: (since 1985) cestode parasites of fish, mainly cestodes and (since 1974) systematics, life cycles and pathophysiology of nematode parasites of domestic ruminants.

Publication record: Twelve book chapters, eight monographs, 280 papers in refereed scientific journals.
