Biography

Nicky joined CPELL in a permanent capacity in 2008. Prior to joining the unit Nicky has nine years teaching experience in the United Kingdom, one year of secondary teaching in Australia, and two years of Tertiary teaching on the subject of Education Policy. When she returned from the UK Nicky undertook an M.Ed to update her understanding of the Victorian context.

Since joining CPELL, Nicky’s research has focussed on school intervention strategies surrounding equity in secondary education. A key element of her role is literature retrieval and reviewing, and research fieldwork. An active fieldworker, who enjoys on-site, and off-site interviewing, she has worked on a range of projects for the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria, and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Nicky is currently undertaking her PhD study which is investigating the notion of a ‘Pedagogy of Poverty’ within the Victorian setting.
