Biography
David has been involved in silvicultural and ecological research in plantations and native forests for the past 6 years. This work has involved investigations of nitrogen fixation, nutrient cycling, growth dynamics, competition and the construction of carbon and nitrogen budgets. Current projects deal with the effects of silviculture, such as pruning, thinning and mixing species, on canopy physiology, nutrient and biomass partitioning, water use and water use efficiency. David is currently a Research Associate of the CRC for Greenhouse Accounting and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the CRC for Forestry. David also collaborates with researches at the Silviculture Institute of the University of Freiburg, Germany, where he spent the final 6 months of his PhD candidature. In addition to research projects, this collaboration has involved the supervision of visiting research students from Freiburg and other Universities.
